Bio

Christopher Delni Offord

Christopher has been painting in oils for over 25 years and was privately taught in his early years by the renowned Stan Harrington, Chris also enrolled in an art academy with Dennis Sheehan, the American tonalist artist whose works hang in the White House. Chris was born in St Annes, Lancashire, England and always loved the process and captivation of art. He is greatly influenced by 19th Century tonal artists such as George Innes and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, The Pre-impressionistic/Tonalist style greatly celebrated nature, the spiritual and had glimpses of the human condition wrapped within them. He is also a student of the works of JMW Turner.

His colourful and challenging life has led him to live and work extensively in many parts of the globe including Canada, Cyprus, Brunei, Hong Kong, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Sardinia, Gaza, Egypt, Norway, Ascension Island, Kuwait, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and the UK, and so draws lots of imagery from those experiences. His choice of medium is oil, and he works out of his own studio gallery in Wiltshire. Most of his works are impressionistic representations of life, portraits, landscapes and urban scenes from around the world, but much of his work comes from the recess of his imagination, and from his interesting life experiences which bring tension and reflection into his work.

Christopher is also a member of the British Art Club and the Malmesbury Creatives

Christopher also teaches at his gallery workshop with a varied programme of workshops at Studley Grange

“Creating narrative through metaphor has been the oldest form of communication throughout history. In our Post-Deconstructionist age, artist Christopher Delni Offord fuses the pure essence of human nature’s inherent Creative force with his dark swatches of landscape illuminated by bright promises of pastel hope, artfully reconstructing the broken metaphors of humanity.”
